Michaela is a registered massage therapist. She graduated from Medicine Hat College with a diploma in Massage Therapy as well as a post-diploma certificate in Sports Massage Therapy and has been practicing since 2008. She has been able to obtain a variety of skills and hands-on experience through various opportunities such as athletics-oriented therapy with the MHC Rattlers woman's basketball team, various volunteer events, clinical experience in an adult inpatient psychiatry ward as well as various work settings to include physiotherapy clinics, chiropractic clinics, and various high-end spas.
Michaela has taken many massage courses outside of college and continues to educate herself on the various ways she can aid her clients. She has over 180 hours of additional training to include visceral manipulation, ethics, massage therapy and mental/mood disorders, aromatherapy, and myofascial release. She has a Bachelor of Health Science from Thompson Rivers University and is currently working on a Bachelor of Science majoring in Neuroscience at the University of Lethbridge.
Michaela takes a holistic approach to her clients, blending the various techniques and investigating the origin of the client's issues, while empowering clients to take charge of their own health and wellbeing. She has a special interest in working with women's health issues, end of life, seniors, post-surgery/scar tissue, visceral/organ release, emotional distress (anxiety, depression, grieving), headaches, nerve issues (carpal tunnel, sciatica), and sacroiliac (SI)/pelvis issues.
In her spare time, Michaela enjoys hiking, road trips, creating art, travelling, playing tabletop games, training in medieval martial arts, and spending time with her partner and cats.
