Pre-hire Occupational Testing Services

Pre-hire or post-offer testing is a series of tests that are designed to determine if an individual is fit to work in a specific position within the company. It can include:

By utilizing this testing, you can assess the current fitness of your prospective employee for the position they are being hired for. This will help to prevent work-related injuries.

Functional Capacity Evaluations

A Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) evaluates an individual’s ability to perform work-related activities. The process allows the professional to compare the individual’s health status, body function and structure, to the job demands and work environment.

The exam consists of the following:

At the end of the exam a report is generated, which will go provide an overall physical demand level, a summary of job-specific physical abilities, performance consistency, effort levels, adaptations to enhance performance, and treatment recommendations.

On-Site Early Intervention Clinics

A healthy workforce is crucial when it comes to a high performing company. These on-site clinics aim to provide early recognition and management of injuries, as well as information on how to keep employees safely at work as they recover from an injury. They help employees take initiative to protect themselves while working, as well as provide early intervention opportunities by being on-site.

Be proactive. Utilize these programs help to prevent and mitigate employee issues before they become recordable injuries or work absences.

Ergonomic Assessments

An ergonomic assessment is a key factor in keeping a workplace safe and fit for work. Work related injuries typically happen due to poor working postures, poor movement patterns, and external factors which cause increased strain on bones, muscles, tendons, and ligaments.

The National Research Council of Canada defines ergonomics as "the application of scientific knowledge to the workplace in order to improve the well-being and efficiency of both the individual and the organization". That is, the workplace should be designed to best fit the workers, not the other way around.

The assessment will look at employee postures, work station set-up, and movements required during the work day. From the assessment the professional will be able to explain the risks noted, and offer potential solutions to help mitigate those risks.

Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP)

The Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP) is an evidence based treatment program to help reduce disability associated with pain, depression, cancer, and other chronic health conditions.

The primary goal of the program is to reduce the psychosocial barriers to the rehabilitation process, facilitate the return to work, and increase the individual’s quality of life.

The process begins with creating a structured schedule to help the individual return to their previous activities that have been affected by their injury/illness. Goal setting is a major component as it helps to guide the treatment process. The client will be provided with an informational video which goes over the nature of various chronic health and mental health conditions, the importance of activity and return to work and other information that is often difficult to communicate due to time constraints during a physician’s visit. They are also given a workbook and attend weekly meetings with their PGAP provider for a maximum of 10 weeks.
